Many happy owners of LCD TVs are visited by the thought of having to install a TV on the wall. In this article we will tell you how best to choose the bracket you need for a successful installation.
If you already own a digital panel or are just going to purchase it, you need to provide a number of characteristics and subtleties. About the TV you need to know its weight (without stand) and the standard VESA mount. The weight of the TV can always be found on the tag with the serial number located on the back, or see the user manual that came with the kit. You can also find out the size of the VESA standard in the instructions or on the website. If nowhere to find - the most “iron” way is to take a long ruler or tape measure and measure the distances between the mounting holes (distances A and B), as shown in the picture.
In our case, the distances A and B were 400 mm each. This means that we can use any bracket that supports the VESA 400x400 mm mounting standard. The main thing is that the weight of our TV does not exceed the permissible weight for the bracket. Bracket specifications always show maximum weight, a range of VESA standards, and supported TV diagonals for bracket functionality.
In the characteristics of the brackets, the manufacturer indicates the supported diagonals, but this does not preclude the installation of a larger or smaller diagonal of the TV on it, under certain conditions. These conditions are permissible weight and VESA standard. If we assume that the diagonal of the TV is 42 inches, the VESA standard is 400x400 mm and the weight is 25 kg, then it can be easily installed on the bracket, which has a permissible weight of 30 kg, VESA from 200x200 to 400x600 mm, and the declared diagonal support is up to 37 inches.
The size of the diagonal is important if the arm is pivoting or inclined, or pivoting and inclined. In this case, the installation of a larger diagonal will entail a decrease in the angles of inclination and rotation, as stated in the characteristics of a particular bracket model.
As for the functionality of the brackets - here each selects as needed and to taste. For example, if the TV is most convenient for you to install in the corner of the room, the rotation of the bracket will not be superfluous and will allow you to turn the panel at a comfortable viewing angle. If you plan to mount the TV higher - then you need a bracket with a slope that will provide the most convenient angle for viewing.
Select the main types of brackets for functionality. It is fixed, oblique and oblique. Each one of its kind is good. Of course, the most functional tilt-swivel bracket, but the price may bite.
Fixed brackets are the easiest and cheapest option for mounting the panel on the wall. Provides a rigid position of the TV on the wall, like a picture. This mounting method is suitable for those whose TV will be located at such a point in the room, the viewing angles of which will be static. For example, the TV hangs in front of the bed or sofa and the view will be performed only with them. The disadvantage is the inability to turn the TV, if you need to change the angle to view. Advantages - low cost bracket and ease of installation.
Inclined brackets have almost the same characteristics as the fixed ones. The only advantage is that the functionality of the bracket allows you to tilt the TV vertically and provide maximum comfort if the TV is hanging, for example, in the kitchen above the refrigerator, or in the bedroom opposite the bed above the table, or you have small children - therefore it is not possible to hang the TV low . In such cases, the slope saves.
Swivel brackets are the maximum that can be squeezed out of the "piece of iron" on the wall. Provide tilt and turn the panel so that the TV looks at you at whatever point you are. Such brackets come with one point of rotation and two, although even three. The number of rotation points allows you to bend the arm so that the TV looks clearly at you and does not move away from the wall. But do not forget about the size of the TV - when turning it touches or may touch the wall, so you need to take into account the width of the TV and the maximum angle of rotation, which provides the bracket for a given diagonal. The advantage is the possibility of application and use in any place and any conditions. The disadvantage is the increased cost of the bracket, and more complex installation in some cases.
An example of how to choose the right bracket for the TV
Consider the above example Vogel's bracket VFW432B or VFW432. On the right is a drawing with dimensions and angles of rotation at each point of the bracket. According to the specifications, it supports TVs with VESA from 75x75 mm to 200x200 mm and a maximum weight of 15 kg. Recommended supported diagonals, declared by the manufacturer, are in the range from 23 to 37 inches.
Suppose you need to attach a TV with a diagonal of 40 inches to this bracket. In 40 inch TVs, basically, the VESA standard is 200x200, in some 400x400 - they can no longer be hung on such a mount. The weight of a modern TV is small and for such a diagonal is about 13-15 kg. The width of the TV is approximately 1090 mm. According to the drawing and characteristics, the maximum reach of the arm bracket is 404 mm, and the rotation angle is 180 degrees, therefore, 90 degrees to the right and left. Divide the width of the TV by two and get about 545 mm. Based on this, it is clear that a 40-inch TV can be mounted on such a bracket, but the shoulder will be (545 - 404) 141 mm longer. This means that the angle of rotation will be slightly less, approximately 150-160 degrees, hence 75-80 degrees in each direction. When you try to turn the TV to the maximum angle - it rests sideways into the wall, which can not provide a 90 degree angle. Thus, selecting the bracket, do not forget about the calculations, taking into account the width of the TV. If for example, the angle of 90 degrees is not needed in this case, then you can do with this bracket without buying a more expensive one, which will allow you to turn the TV over to 90 degrees.
We hope that this recommendation will help you to make the right choice in matters of installing and installing an LCD TV, monitor or plasma panel on the wall.
